WEEK ONE - CRYENGINE IMAGES

ELECTROLIQUID AGGREGATION

Selected concepts:

Concept 2. An iconic and unprecedented architecture should be shared with the rest of the public realm, to act as a catalyst and converge surrounding public spaces.

Concept 4. The play between mass and void harnesses a harmonious relationship between internal and external spaces.

Electroliquid Aggregation:

The interplay between mass and void in iconic and unprecedented architecture harnesses a harmonious relationship between internal and external spaces which act as a catalyst for the creation of public spaces.

EXPERIMENT TWO, WEEK ONE AXONOMETRIC DRAWINGS

1. A process of interlocking connects two different forms, yet the resulting spaces are unpredictable, and the experience can be chaotic.

 2. An iconic and unprecedented architecture should be shared with the rest of the public realm, to act as a catalyst and converge surrounding public spaces.

3. A harsh collision of axes and linearity emerges into a network of disoriented movement through the internal space.

4. Individual, unique entities can be arranged to work harmoniously to contribute to a whole.

5. The play between mass and void harnesses a harmonious relationship between internal and external spaces.

6. Simplification of the exterior leads to an appreciation of the interior and the program structure.

FINAL SUBMISSION - ANIMATION

Animation:

This animation provides an overview of the structure.

This animation depicts Stradivari's studio.

This animation displays Kimura's work space.

FINAL SUBMISSION

Initial Section:
key words: music (Antonio Stradivari), highway (Shinya Kimura)

Final Model:

Antonio Stradivari Studio:

The curved structures which compose the roof of Stradivari's studio were inspired by the curved and continuous motion of a conductor's hand reflecting the musical nature of his occupation.

The Object:

The violin object placed in the studio.

The Stair:

The type of stair selected for Stradivari is a floating wooden staircase. The material selection correlates with the materials used to construct a violin, while the spiral aesthetic is quite classical replicating the sound of the violin.

The steel rodded balustrade is intended on replicating an image of tangled violin strings which surround the stair to create an atmosphere that music is all around.

Section of the Stair:

Shinya Kimura's Studio:

The shell of the structure is intended to replicate an image of the meandering racing tracks and highways along the hillside displayed in motorcycle advertisements.

The Object:

The motorbike placed in the studio.

The Stair:

The stair type selected for Kimura's studio is a straight stair supported by steel columns. The treads are in an almost semi-circular shape replicating various parts of the motorcycle. The tread for Kimura's stair is also approximately half the size of Stradivari's to highlight the varying occupations. Stradivari's are wide replicating the slow and soothing sound of his violin, while Kimura's a far narrower to enable a faster transition between the studio and gallery space highlighting the speed driven nature of his occupation.

The steel balustrades are smooved to create a contemporary design suited to Kimura's shieke looking motorcycles.

Section of the Stair:

The Ramp:

A ramp was also installed to enable the movement of the motorcycles from the studio to gallery. The ramp also consists of the same materiality as the staircase to create a unified composition.

Section of the Ramp:

The Gallery Space:

The gallery space combines elements both the Stradivari studio design and the Kimura studio design to create a harmonious composition. The gallery is an outdoor, "plein air", space enabling the creative pieces to be displayed alongside nature's beauty where the creative mind is best cultivated.

The spiral shape is related to the Stradivari composition and is intended on replicating the musical element of the treble clef while structurally supporting the studio.

The other supporting mechanism is related to the Kimura design and is intended to replicate the movement of highways and their overlapping nature.
